ROME (AP) — The airport in the northern Italian city of Bergamo briefly suspended flights Tuesday due to a runway incident that local media said was apparently caused by someone running onto the tarmac and getting sucked into an airport engine.

Flights were suspended at Italy's third-busiest airport after a person was sucked into the engine of a Volotea plane at Milan Bergamo Airport.

ANSA news agency reported the victim was sucked into the engine of a departing plane while being chased by airport police.
