Trailing 13–7 with 11:58 remaining in the third quarter, Navy quarterback Blake Horvath, on a third-and-7 from the Navy 14-yard line, was intercepted by Army cornerback Justin Weaver, who returned it 32 yards for a touchdown, giving the Black Knights a 19–7 lead prior to the extra point attempt.

Both teams unveiled their uniforms for the 2025 Army-Navy game, and both will pay tribute to 250 years of service in this year's game. Army was founded as the Continental Army in 1775 ahead of the Revolutionary War and will pay homage to those roots, as well as those who have died in service of their country.

Army also enjoys a 2-0 record vs. Navy in "Game of the Century" meetings — contests in which the teams were ranked in the top two. The top-ranked Black Knights won both the 1944 and '45 meetings against No. 2 Navy, winning with scores of 23-7 and 32-13, respectively.

With the Black Knights out of timeouts, Navy was able to go into victory formation to seal the victory. Then Horvath waved goodbye, Army solemnly gathered for the school fight song and the Midshipmen, for the second year in a row, sang second.

Navy head coach Brian Newberry did not downplay what his team had just endured, acknowledging after the Midshipmen’s 17–16 win over Army the mistakes and pressure that come with the rivalry, while making it clear the one-point finish was no surprise.

Navy has beaten Army for a second straight season. Blake Horvath threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Eli Heidenreich with 6:32 remaining — on fourth-and-goal — and the 22nd-ranked Midshipmen rallied for a 17-16 win on Saturday.
